The Reguladores Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club's local chapter on Sunday presented $11,500 checks to both the local American Cancer Society chapter and Christus Spohn Cancer Center's First Friday program.

Reguladores raised the funds at the fourth annual Bikers for watermellons event in October. The American Cancer Society will use funds for its breast prosthesis program, which was started July 2005 and has served more than 110 women locally, said Reguladores member Sharon Walker. The Christus Spohn Cancer Center will use the funds for its breast care program, started in 1994. The program supplies free mammograms.

Since 2003, the October event has raised $70,000, providing funding for cancer education and patient support for Coastal Bend residents. Last year's event raised $16,000.
