Well, I have a 1983(?might be an 82) Yamaha Seca 400 that was being used as a parts bike by a friends brother. He told me "If you can get it out of the garage, its yours" Which I did. Ive been thinking baout getting a bike for a while now, so an oportunity like this arrises One takes it right? Ill know Wed. if its more work then I can handle on the rebuild (I have a list of about 8 things that I can see wrong, and Im no mechanic *LOL*) So, Ill share with you how it goes, and if I get the chance to rebuild, Ill try to document it for y'all. hopefully, it stops snowing by the time Im done this project..Northern Ontario winters last well into June it seems...

Oh, that's awesome.

I remember mine was shod with metzler lazers and had a metallic purple paint - I think I paid $650 for it.

At the time I didn't work on my own bike, so I'm afraid I don't have a lot of helpful advice for you on that model. I also got a ticket for no helmet and for no insurance. All of the above is incomprehensible to me now, but that was fifteen years ago.

Does anyone know if I can sub parts from other model years into this bike? If not, well, no big deal, but it woulod be nice not to just limit my search for one year...should I ask the Yami dealer?

I think hes making fun of my bike... well, every one thats seen it has too...so thats ok.. *lol* I went to the Yami dealership here and gave him the list of parts, he said, ummm, exhaust stuff, we cant help you, they are obsolete.. :? so I phone scrap yard...they have it! :D I ask the yami dealer about carbs..he sais they are 400 bucks! I phone scrap yard, and get them for 60 :D I needed an plug for the oil drain, dealer sais 3 bucks....I can handle that.... *lol* but the good news is, I found carbs! and I will have most of the parts I need to start working on getting the beast running by end of this week or begining of next...then I get to start cursing since I dont know where any of it goes... fun fun..
