A friend of mine received two very official looking messages that were both scams. One was from her brand of bank and the other was supposedly from the Taxation and Finance department of Canada.
There are always scams of some kind, but lately they seem to be coming on strong.
Beware of things that sound too good to be true.

LoL,
Why wouldn't they at least spend the $10 to register a site along the lines of www.becksbeer.com and get free e-mail addresses to go with them? Then they could at least have an address that doesn't end in yahoo.co.uk (obviously a scam).
The world is full of idiots. What makes me sadder is that people obviously fall for this stuff, otherwise, why would people keep doing it?

Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

A bloke I work with nearly got caught by a similar scam about a year ago. Luckily he told his 12 year old daughter about it just before he sent of the 'service charge' and she explained the scam to him. I cannot believe how stupid some people are. People get blinded by greed. There's an old saying 'you cannot con an honest man' and that's very true.
When the sun beats down and I lie on the bench, I can always hear them talk.

Lol, I thought the yahoo address was pretty funny as well, as if becks beer is not only so desperate for publicity that they give away tons of money for no reason, but that because all the money they are giving away, they can't afford to buy a domain with email addresses, lol.

Here is yet another. I haven't had one quite like this before.
From: Sara Faraj- ALRUSHAID Thomas
sarafaraj21@yahoo.com
For: Love, Trust and Commitment.
My beloved
I am Mrs. Sara Faraj- ALRUSHAID-Thomas, I am 56 years old from Kuwait,
I am suffering from a long time cancer of the Lungs which also
affected my hearing ability and my brain, from all indication my
conditions is really deteriorating and it is quite obvious that,
according to my doctors they have advised me that I may not live too
long, this is because the cancer has gotten to a very bad stage.
I was brought up from a motherless babies home, was married to my late
husband for twenty years without a child. My husband died in a fatal
motor accident. Since his death I decided not to re-marry, I sold all
my inherited belongings and deposited all the sum of $9.5million
dollars and Two Trunk Box (Family valuables) with a Security
Company.
Presently, this money is still with them I have already written them
long before my illness got to this stage that I will give a letter of
authorization to somebody to receive it on my behalf since I can not
come over because of my illness and these was rather part of our
initial agreement as contained in the deed of lodge issued to me the
day I deposited the funds with them.
Presently, I'm with my laptop in a hospital where I have been under
going treatment for cancer of the lungs. I have since lost my ability
to talk and my doctors have told me that I have months or year to
live, but all depend on my ability to respond to the new treatment
that will be prescribed.
It is my last wish to see that this money is invested to any
organization of your choice and distributed each year among the
charity organization, the poor and the motherless babies home where I
come from .I want a God fearing person, to also use this money to fund
foundation for children suffering from cancer, orphanages and widows.
I took this decision, before I rest in peace because my time will soon
be up.
As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you the contact of the
Security Company. I will also issue you a letter of authority that
will prove you as the sole beneficiary to my fund I will also write
the security company that you are the only one I can trust to handle
and use all the funds for the intended purpose. Please assure me that
you will act accordingly as I stated herein.
I await your speedy reply.
Kind regards,
Mrs. Sara Faraj- ALRUSHAID Thomas

I can't believe they used a Yahoo email addy for that scam. Boy, scammers are really not smart these days...........i think all the good scammers became spammers and the new scammers are still on the learning curve...........??? I'm so paranoid about these types of emails that i don't even bother opening them - in fact if i don't know your email address when i see it - i don't open! A little rule my mother didn't teach me
