Two words:
RUPTURED DISC
Now
THAT will ruin any chances of hoping to ride anytime soon.
Keep your fingers crossed for me...I have the MRI done today on my neck to verify.

Just curious... what's your symptoms?
I'm having an mri on my neck this week too. I get really stiff in the neck and shoulder and my jaw cracks. This seems to cause headaches which turn into migrains. I started physical therapy and muscle relaxers last week which is helping keep the headaches at bay.
Good luck with your disc! Better now than summer i guess.

I have pain in my right shoulder blade, going down my arm and in middle of my neck. I had my MRI done, now just waiting for the doctor appointment so he can look at the images. At least by spring, I'll be all better.......and it gives me good reason to get that new helmet I've been wanting. I think my old one is way to heavy and may have contributed to how I am feeling now.

Yeah, the back is a fun one. 10+ years ago I had two compression fractures in my lumbar vertabrae after a mountain bike crash. it was DEFINITELY the worst pain I had been in. For months after the incident I could relive it entirely when telling people the story, and people could see all the pain twist and contort my voice and body. it was a nasty crash, and only took a brief lapse in concentration to turn what should have been an easy downhill section into a nightmare... i was running my dog. well she was running, i was riding! and i ended up flipping the bike end-over-end after careening off course into a 5 foot deep ditch/culvert... oh man, i haven't thought about that in a long time. f** it was not a good start to the day, and it got worse after the crash... anyway...
funny thing is when i first read your message title, i was thinking about how the weather here has just went from warm and ridable to poof about 6 inches of snow last night and my bike was buried out side. i shovelled the sidewalk, but left the bike covered for a good photo opportunity!
Good Luck with the back, and BTW, don't slack off in recuperation... look after the body and itll be better off to look after you. i do just got back into doing some yoga now, which i initially started after messing up my back. i don't know much about those squishy little discs in your back but dig up as much info as you can and you'll best prepared to help yourself heal up.

My dad had a ruptured disc that bothered him for years. A few years ago he had a surgery that fused the two vertebrae on each side of the disc together. Now he has no pain and rides his Harley again.
