How big a pain could it be?

#1 Unread post by safety-boy »

Looking at putting clip-ons on a Ninja 500-R. How big a hassle is that typically? The :ninja: has bolt-on straight handles currently, but moving all the controls is my only worry (never had to mess with that end of the throttle before).

Don't think of it as a stop light. Think of it as a chance-to-show-off light.

Do some measuring. You may have to have brake lines and cables made up because the old ones may be too long.

Otherwise, not a hard changeover.
I would be the old, slow guy. Just let me know where you are going and I'll try to get there before you leave.

I'll have to see how much I want to play with it. I tend to keep bikes stock, but miss the dropped bars from my 636 :crybaby:

The only way it would be tough is if you have cables routed internally (you don't). Or if you're scared of a wrench. There's a good chance the brake lines will still be okay, but you'll probably need a new throttle and clutch cables. Should be possible to aquire a set at any bike shop.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
