Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I just purchased a 1999 suzuki VZ800 marauder and darn near polished the chrome off it already, :D .

I've learned an invaluable amount of experience from this forum already, you guys and gals ae all great, but one quick question; on my bike when you accelerate normal the bike does just fine but under quick/hard acceleration it sort of studders, doesnt die just hesitates..... I figure its a fuel or spark problem. The bike sat for a year or so, I did a tune up ie. brakes, oil, coolant and chain. Any specific suggestions on the cause?? Any input is greatly appreciated.

I was born and raised in New Orleans and have a ton of relatives in Lafayette. Welcome!

I'm no mechanic but I'd have to say that it's a fuel delivery problem. Check the fuel filter, hoses, pump (if you have one, most bikes don't).

It sat for a year? Did it have fuel in it? If so, the carburetors are gummed up and need to be disassembled and cleaned thoroughly. We used to have a '04 Marauder, that's how it acted with gummed up carbs.

Hey there, :welcome: I have the 01, and mine does the same thing when it's not fully warmed up. I have to wait til it's fully warm before I try to accelerate hard. Usually on a 50 degree day that's about 5-10 minutes. On colder days, it can take up to a half an hour of riding. Good luck!
