2002 shadow 600

#1 Unread post by mustangski »

Good afternoon,
Quick question, my wife wants to start riding and we came accross a great deal on a 2002 shadow 600cc cruiser. We are in the process of buying the bike and I just have a few questions on it. I know it will be a good starter bike as it only has 38 hp, plus I took it out for a test ride and it seems very controllable and light. My wife has never ridden a motorcycle before, other then being on the back of mine. Is this a good starter bike, has any other females started on this type of bike and have any comments or suggestions? I appreciate all the help.

A good starter bike? sure, the low seat height and low center of gravity make it a great starter bike. Although if she has NEVER riddin a bike at all she should learn on like a friends 125-250 for a couple days so she is comfortable with controls etc.

The Honda 600 is a great starter bike but its really s-l-o-w, I would have picked the Yamaha 650 V Star instead

I'd recommend an MSF course unless she's unlike my wife and is actually willing to take instruction from you...
