re: AZ LAW ON RIDING 50 CC BIKE

#1 Unread post by maggy »

I BOUGHT A SECOND BIKE FOR LEARNING ON. HERE IN NV , I DON'T NEED A LICENSE, INSURANCE, REGISTRATION TO RIDE IT. They consider it like one of them little scooters. It is a custom crusier, JUst like a big cruseir. like my 750 cc Shadow. Yet, it is smaller and only right under 50 cc's. Now , I want to move back to AZ. I can't find the law on the little bike there. does anyone in az know?
Thanks ahead of time.

hello,

Well, unfortunately it's not exactly a black and white answer. Each district is able to set the rules regarding mopeds/scooters/mini-bikes , and they all have slightly different responses. In Phoenix they're not legal anywhere. In Scottsdale they're legal on side-streets, but not main streets. In Mesa they're legal everywhere except state regulated roads. Tell me exactly where you plan to be and I can have my uncle find out (he's the only cop I try to talk to on a regular basis :D )

Wow, that is something, And THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE HELP.
I will be riding in Bullhead City, AZ and Laughlin, NV
Laughlin is no problem but Bullhead I am not sure. I would so appreciate knowing the law. I had emailed DMV there. They sent me a very confusing site to check it out. Way crazy too.

Hello again,
Unfortunately I have some bad news. Bullheadcity decided to outlaw pocketbikes, mini choppers, and gas scooters. You are only allowed to use them on private property. 1st offence is up to a $50 fine, 2nd is up to $100 and so on. This basically means you are able to use them in parking lots with permission from the owner or on other private property, but not on the streets. :frusty: sorry
