Sorry to be a newbie but I have some questions on bike parts. Why is it that the right side of a swingarm on a sportbike looks different from the left side where the chain is? And what is that container looking thingy on top of the handle bars behind the windscreen? Is it power steering fluid? Not all manufacturers put it there right? Any suggestions. Thanks.

The right side of the swingarm is where the brake is.
The container thingy is a brake fluid reservoir for the front brakes.

On Harley dressers, that's known as a beer can holder and, yes, I suppose it feeds the power steering unit, so to speak.

And on Goldwings its the coffee maker
Actually, the thingy holding the fluid on the right side bar is the brake fluid reservoir. It has a host that runs to the front caliper(s). If there is a fluid reservoir on the left side bar, that is for a hydraulic clutch.

FYI to the OP, bikes do not have power steering fluid.
