Do you know VW Buses? I need your help

Ok so my father in law gave me his 1972 VW Bus about 8 years ago. I use it for storage...works good, you can stack a ton of boxes in one of those things. I put it and several other vehicles up for sale and I am getting a ton of phone calls on the bus. I don't know anything about VW's. My father in law always told me it was a 1971. Thats what I put in the add. After so many calls asking two questions, "it is a 1971 right?" and "$2000 bucks right" I pulled the pink and looked on the tag on the bus and sure enough it has 1972 on both.
So I have a 1972 Westfalia (the pop top camper) with the sink, fridge, needs new canvas in the top, I start it every 6 months with a jump, its the original orange color except on the sliding door its primer. It has no rust in the wheels wells or on the floor boards. There is rust under the front window with some small gapage. There has been a bra on the bus for about 25 years. As I understand it, while on a family campining trip an axe wielding mad man attacked the front of the bus and the bra is hiding the scar from the axe, so I would assume there is some rust there as well. If not mistaken the thing only has like 75k to 85k miles.
If you came to me a week ago and said "I'll give you a $100 for that bus and help unload the crap out of it ", you would have owned a bus. So I figure I got time I will put it in the paper for 2 grand and with some time some dummy will pony up like $1200 to $1500 for it. Who knows???
So for the help needed
How much difference does it make if its a '72 not a '71?
Does the difference make it worth less or more?
Did I put it out there for too little?
Its been in the paper 3 days and my wife and I have talked to many people on it and I have 3 guys all set up to look at it tommorow.
With it being a '72 not '71 am I screwed on the price or what?
norcal
