Partially sticky throttle

#1 Unread post by Ian522 »

Temps were back above freezing yesterday so I took the bike out for a spin around town. I noticed that when I give the throttle a good healthy twist (hard accelerate), when I let go it sticks for a short second and creeps back closed. However when I give it just an easy twist (gentle accelerate) it snaps back like it should.

Im thinking the cable may just need a good lube? The cable doesnt seem to have a kink in it or anything and the bike runs great otherwise...

Any advice?

Check the return spring(s)?
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

You may need to clean the carbs. Maybe the tips of the needles were sitting in some gunked up gas during the off season and got stuck when the were pulled up all the way.

I would defiantly lube the cable and do what sev said too.

good luck
