So, who here has them? I'm curious as to what kind you have and what kind of stuff you have in it, what came with it, and what you added yourself. Some things im pretty sure i'm going to add after the face are stethoscope and bp cuff, and probably an adjustable c-spine collar, but i'm looking for a medium sized kit for the truck/trips on the bike (doesnt need to fit in a bag, can strap on the seat). Not opposed to buying an empty bag and stuffing it myself either, i've got a good idea of what to get, but want to hear some other ideas.

Requisites; gauze/kling in various sizes, 4x4's, bandaids, tape, burn ointment, abd/trauma pad (feminine hygiene pads will work), triangular bandages, saline for flushing wounds/eyes/etc, benedryl.

Consider; sunscreen, aloh vera, emergency cell phone (if you don't have a regular cell phone. all cell phones in the USA with a charge should dial 911 even without a carrier), ibuprofen, anti-diarrheal medicine, saline for contact lenses, sting relief solution, anti-bacterial ointment, medical glue.

If you're trained & have the money & don't care how big your bag is; cervical collar, b/p cuff and stethoscope, ice packs (and heat packs if you're traveling in cold weather), splinting devices, aluminized emergency cover..... The list could go on and on. Do you have a trailer or side car? I'll add more....

Great answer. I didn't see it but make sure you have high quality trama shears, a window breaking seatbelt cutting tool and of course a knife. Always carry a knife.

double up on the anti-diarrheal medicine if you hit lots of trucker stops when touring.

I was asking the origional poster about his training. Also, what do you intend to cover? I threw in the window smasher seatbelt cutter tool b/c they are great if you ever respond to an accident.

Well, for now, base line vitals, CPR (infant to adult), AED (like i could afford one/legally buy one), making and maintaning airways (OPA and NPAs), rescue breathing (for non cardiac arrest; face mask, BVM (not that i'd want to find room for an adult BVM)) and securing C-Spine.

Currently in EMT-B training, so i will/am getting formal, state recognized training on all the equipment, so it's not like i'd be a caveman banging 2 rocks together trying to figure out how to make a fire. But I would like to get a decent little kit now for personal use. I mean, someone's bleeding, put some gloves on and slap a bandage (or compress if it's bad enough) on there and hold it til EMS comes. Or if it's bad enough, jump on the artery in addition to the compress. And I'm smart enough to NOT use tools i don't know how to use.

And I always have a knife on me already ;-) Though i want one with a built in spring loaded window smasher and seatbelt cutter. In addition to the 2 knives I'd have in a tank bag.

PS - one thing, NO latex. One of the roomates is allergic to latex.

woohoo! As long as i don't have to deal with fecal matter... urine is one thing (hey, i helped raise a puppy), but poop is another completely.

I'd love to say that's not going to happen
