1997 Yamaha Royal Star ( carbs)

Rebuilt the motor, runs great with one exception. gas floods out of left bank of carbs. Cleaned carbs / checked floats. HELP. Any advice welcome.
Either the float height is set incorrectly, OR the gasket is torn/shredded. I'd double check the floats, while it's apart shake the float to see if it filled up with gas, sometimes that happens, and it won't actually float, so it stays open all the time.
Did you check the carb drain bolt?
