Posting as a new member, beginner (10 yrs. ago) with some experience, Father and Husband (lone male in the house) and currently a man without a ride. Just recently I have decided (got permission) to buy a bike, a cruiser. Still figuring out license endorsements, CMSP locations and schedules, insurance etc. I appreciate the comments / info current members are putting out in the forums, really good stuff, I have found answers to several of my questions already.
This past weekend I scanned through the classifieds and found several Cruisers that will both fit my budget and skill level (I think). Suggestions on other sources of used bikes? Cycle Trader, Local Dealer?. I have read through several posts regarding starter bikes, 750cc too much (Shadow)?

Thanks for any feedback. Looking forward to getting educated.

Hello and welcome.... 750 Shadow is a perfect starter bike (my personal opinion), I'm sure someone else will/may say it's too big. The most important thing with such a bike is Size (as in Frame and Seat Size), make sure you are comfortable. Given the nature of the Shadow, the 750 is not to power full and yet enough power that you will not get board.

If this is your first bike, I would strongly recommend lessons.

BTW, I just bought an 1999 750 Honda ACE for my wife, this will be her first bike and it fits her perfect!!! Again, as she has never been the driver (spend many hours on the back of mine) she is signed up for lessons and she is very excited!

Just my .02.... again welcome and have fun!

Hi Buckeye, and welcome.
I like the 750 Shadows also, nice bikes.
I don't think you can go wrong with one.
Good luck in your motorcycle hunting.

Welcome

The Shadow s a great bike and low maintenance. I have put 14k on my VT1100 Since June 06 with no issues. I know quite a few Honda owners here in socal and they have nothing but good to say. Enjoy and let us know how it goes.

Cheers
