Im having HORRENDOUS back pains while riding... :(

well I went on a 3 hour trip today through the city and back roads and I noticed about 2 hours in, I started getting just some INSANE lower back pains. It got so painful that I had to turn off on a small street, get off the bike, and had to take a break for about 15 minutes. (And I am under 20.) During that time I stretched my back and flexed it around.

I know that everyone says height doesn't matter for which bike you sit on, but I am 189 CM, and 66 kilos,-I think thats around 6' 2" and 145 pounds-, anyways so I THINK that the problem is because my bikes geometry just isn't suited for someone so tall. I think the problem is the odd high handlebar height relative to the peg position. I don't think the seat is a problem (31 inches). So I think that the handle bars are way too high and the pegs are way too upright. In normal riding position, I am basically slouched over because of the awkward positioning.

The ONLY way to relieve the pain was to sit back on the two up or sit on my backpack..

So basically, the only feasible way would be to fix this problem
1.) lower the handlebars
2.) duct tape 3-4 inches of hard foam on to my seat.

doesn't this look just really weird?? The handle bars are about a foot above the seat but the pegs are straight under my legs..

This company should of either put the handlebars lower or extend the pegs about 2-3 inches forward.

does this happen to anyone else??

Looks like a pretty standard seating position to me. Might be that you just aren't built for it.

You can always replace the bars with something lower, which will make you stretch out more, or you can buy rearsets that'll allow you to move the pegs further back.

Try doing some core exercises to strengthen your lower back and you may find it a bit better... Sometimes it's your posture and not the bike...

I really don't know what to search so could you give me a basic cost of either replacing handlebars or the rear set?

Can I ask how long you have ben riding it. I know when I got the bike that I have now, my back hurt all the time. It went away after two or so weeks. I think you will get used to it. It just takes time.

Maybe a back/kidney belt would help?

fat or not situps and back extensions....lots of both...

your back hurts because the muscles are strained from holding you in a position they are not used to. build their strength up or risk serious back problems no matter what you ride.
