Hi just wondering if anyone wears the draggin jeans or if any of you wear the Bohn-Armour-Pants that you wear under your own jeans, if have seen both on the net and look like thay may be good products. would prefer not to wear leather pants.
I am brand new to this sport, will be riding a cruiser style bike, and would like to have some ideas on what i should be wearing for protective clothing.

I just ordered some Draggin' Jeans for DH and I, hopefully they'll get here soon as I can at least post up my thoughts in them with no accidents lol

I read a lot of positive reviews of folks who did crash in them and they held up very well. They said abrasino wise, they did the job as advertised. Some models have armor attachments so you can use knee pads...maybe hip pads.

I ordered from the Australian Draggin Jeans site as they had a way better selection than the US site. The Canadian site also sells the same styles that AU has.

i wear my draggin jeans for non-canyon rides.

well, there have been times i rode the canyons w/ just draggin jeans but i don't do it often.

draggin jeans is good for abrasion protection but does not offer impact protection unless you buy their armor upgrades.

Should i be more concerned about road rash, or protection for the old body. Which is the more important to protect myself from?
As i have said i am brand new to this sport, so i dont know where to spend my money.

I think you'll find the jeans the best for comfort. The armor will definitely protect you better from injury. I have Brosch riding jeans and armored overpants. The overpants are too hot until the temps are in the 40's. The jeans I ordered have knee removeable knee pads. I honestly don't wear the pads much anymore. As for brand of jeans, I'd probably go with the Draggin Jeans next time. The Brosch are ok and were a bit cheaper but, they don't have as much kevlar in them as the Draggin.

I have a pair of Draggin' Jeans. I think they would hold up just fine in a crash. I also had a pair of Brosch jeans, but they weren't what I was expecting and sent them back. I bought the knee inserts in both cases. I thought the Draggin' Jeans would prevent me from having to carry overpants around all day while on campus, but the Draggin' Jeans are so heavy from the Kevlar that they are too hot to wear around during the day. I prefer my overpants with armor and all.

As for which you would want to protect during a crash, your skin or your bones? I enjoy having both, completly intact.

My only input is I hate buying anything to wear that I can't try on first. A medium from one brand will not be the same a medium from another. Another issue is how the fabric feels to your skin.

I realize that I lock myself out of some great products this way but I'm also 100% sure of what I'm getting. I still get people opinions from others as well.

Soap Box: I almost always buy from the dealer that stocked what I ended up wanting to buy. How else is he going to be there in the future or want to stock other accessories?

That method is what we prefer. However when products are not available at all, we must mail order. Our only hitch is that who we order from give us leighway on shipping/return time in case an exchange needs to be made - which of course is lead by an initial communication of intent. The vendors we've dealt with have been good.


As for what protects better...best is armor and leather. But, it's not always an option.

Abrasion resistance on the Draggin's I've heard are very good. Again, from the experiences I've read on other forums where they were actually worn and 'tested' in a crash situation. Amor will keep the blunt force impact from really digging and becoming an open wound. It also works to dissipate force, so its the armor and not your bones that are absorbing.

I think riding jeans are better than regular jeans. Even that small amount of protection is better.

Have a couple of rides with Draggin' Jeans now. They're as comfortable as any jeans I own, and I like having at least a minimum amount of protection on my legs. Impact protection is essentially nil, but if I'm gonna slide, I won't lose any meat.

I have a weird size (40 X29) and the jeans fit me perfectly. Ordered 'em from the DJ web site, and they arrived right on time. Bottom line, I'd recommend 'em.

Bieng 50 years old I don't heal as I did when young,lol, I wear both the braggen jeans and arnor and feel much safer. They can be a little hot in summer but thats the price you pay to be protected. I figure I have only one body and I want it intact. Just for anyones info heres there websites.
