Kawasaki Nomad fi 1500 has sat for 18 months. Time to change

Hello Everyone and happy Spring,
This is a 2001 fuel injected 1500 and has not been on the road for 18 months or better. The battery is gone so I know that needs replacement. Feel free to suggest a battery and any other pertinent maintenence. I trust that a new battery and this will start right up so I can get it to my service guy for ... let me know.

Check out the tires for any cracks , dry rot or flat spots. You may want to replace them just to be safe.
I hope the old gas isnt still in the bike...

Not sure how much gas is in the tank. If it's full (as I suspect) what's the best way to drain it. Also, what effect does stale gas have on a fuel injection system vs a carb?

Ok, 18 months of sitting. What is the likely extent of the problem and what the best way of treating/curing it?

Never had to clean a FI system before, but if it's anything like a carb expect to be spending a lot of time spraying brake clean and compressed air into there. You're going to want to check your tank for rust (look through the petcock hole with a flashlight). If the tank wasn't full you'll likely have a lot of rust across the top of the inside.
If can, check compression and leakdown, there may be rust in the cylinders as well.

Your bike will also need new oil.

He's gonna be doing all the other stuff...might as well just do the fine toothed comb thing. Make sure to check your lights and electrics. And whatever kind of final drive it has on it. brakes. cables.
With all the other posts that covers about everything on the bike
