I have another question concerning my Suzuki GS1100GK. I had a friend call a local tech who has a shop that deal with older japanese bike and explained to him my problem with not being able to get the bike to idle at a low rpm. I wanted to get an idea of how much it would cost to get my carbs cleaned and set. He told my friend that it didn't sound like a carb problem but a pilot something(my friend forgot what he called it) :? . Does anyone know what he could be talking about and if it is something I can do myself? Also I have gotten the bike running well enough to take it out a couple times and noticed that at a stop if i set there for a bit it will idle down, I am totally confused :| . I also have 2 new things to ask about since I have had the chance to ride it a bit, first after I took it out for a ride and came back to the garage I couldn't get it back into neutral unless I shut the bike off, and second once I did get it back into neutral and tried to start it again my battery was way low. The first time I took it out for a ride and the battery was low after the ride I thought maybe I just didn't have a full charge but this time I knew the battery was full. Sorry to be asking so many question all at once but I would really like to get this bike on the road before good weather sets in for the summer. I might add too that the battery is brand new, my lil brother noticed tho that the lights dim once it has run for a bit  . Well I guess I have pretty much given you everything I know, thank you in advance for your answers, I'd also like to thank whoever set up this site it's great to have a place to come and ask questions without feeling like to much of a moron

With the battery, you may have a fault in your charging system. Dunno the generator setup on this bike, but it's posible it needs the brushes replaced, or just needs to have all the wiring cleaned up ... electricals are a PIA - Might want the shop to check that for you.

As for your carb problem (It is a carb problem) your pilot circuit (Jets, idle air passage, etc) all need a good cleaning. It's possible to do it yourself if you have a good manual and some patience, but if you want the bike to run right ASAP, you may want to take it to the shop.

(I know personally, the first time I tried to clean carbs, I had to take them apart three times before everything was proper)

On the battery question, those bikes are known for electrical problems. For the other stuff, I agree, it sounds like carb cleaning time. If you need more specific help for your GS, check out gsresources.com also. Those guys can really help you out. I used to have a GS450 and I got alot of very good, bike specific help over there.

Check the voltage regulator. It's a common culprit in 'no charge' situations, and fairly easy to change.
