I have a sport bike which i am planning on putting a yosh pipe. When I called to start my insurance last week (with a new company) they had asked if any modifications were done to the bike.If i put on a aftermarket exhaust do you have to contact them and let them know?Does it increase your premiums also?
Thanks

they may be asking so that they can cover any after market pieces/parts you have installed. if that's the case, and you want them to cover it, then your premium will probably go up...

they are asking due to 2 reasons changing your CC rating, and cost for replacement if in accident. My neighbor had a harley and told his insurance company it was stock and he really had a bunch of accesories and when an old lady hit the bike his insurance company would not replace the 5-7k in accesories because he did not tell them. But on the other hand my other buddy told his insurance (geico) about all his accesories and was told it would be covered and when his bike was stolen in datona they would not cover it. So i am not sure what you should do but these are the experiences that I know of.

+1
i wouldn't tell them if its a $200 pipe then does it really matter, now if its a full $1200 race exhaust system maybe i would get them too insure the bike at a higher price, but thats just me
