GET UP AND GO - Honda 1100 Shadow cant do it
GET UP AND GO - Honda 1100 Shadow cant do it
I talked about this in my Hello post but I thought I would put it here as well.
I have a 1997 Honda 1100cc Shadow completely stock. My father has the exact same bike except it is a 2006 model. Both bikes have the same problem, neither can get up and go like we would like. When we crank the throttle there is always two "blub blub"s before it really accelerates. They dont bog down like they are getting too much gas, they just dont have great throttle response.
So, keeping in mind that they are shaft drive and dont need any carb work does anyone know how to get some more "get up and go" out of these bikes without breaking the bank.
Is this a common problem with all Honda 1100s of this design?
Thanks

At what speed are you twisting on the trottle? If your rpm are too low and you are in too high a gear it may cause the bike to react like that.

Two identical bikes, nine years apart, with the same problem. Sounds to me like the 1100 Shadow just doesn't have enough power to satisfy you. Consider trading up together and a dealer might cut you both a deal.JWINC wrote:I have a 1997 Honda 1100cc Shadow completely stock. My father has the exact same bike except it is a 2006 model. I had the exact same problems with my 2000 Shadow 1100. I had bought my Shadow used in the spring of 2004, and it only had maybe 6,000 miles on it. So I figured it was just conditional to the model - and now I'm even more convinced after hearing your testimonial. Not sure what you could do for it though (I know... big help I am!). I solved my problem by purchasing my Mean Streak!!JWINC wrote:Minimal issues in neutral. As far as the "blub blub" goes it isnt an engine noise really its more of a response thing. Imagine the first quarter turn of the throttle bringing no response at all no matter where you start from, and after that quarter turn the bike picks up.
