gas tank and carb removal
gas tank and carb removal
Been awhile hope you all have been well. Looking for instructions for removing the gas tank and carbs on my 06 v-star classic. I do have the cylmer manual but was wondering if anyone had a more simplified method. Thanks

Brother,
You don't mention if yours is a 650 or an 1100.
Go to www.delphiforums.com and become a member.
Then search for "V-star 1100 Riders"
If yours is a 650, just search for V-star 650 -- there's a forum for that too.
Once you're in, start asking those guys any questions you have. On the 1100 forum, there's something called the "knowledge base". Access it by clicking the "webpage" tab at the top of that forum's site.
I can get the tank off for you. . .Take off your seat. Then, disconnect the gas from the petcock. Under the seat a black plastic plate. You'll need to get under it. THere are three plastic fasteners holding it down. Using a screwdriver, push down on the part in the centre and they should pop up. Once you're under it, you'll see a white wiring harness -- disconnect it (this goes to the speedo assembly).
Now, you'll see two bolts holding down the tank that were just under the top of your seat. Remove them. The tank is detached now. Just lift it up and towards the back of the bike (the front sits on two round knobs).
Hope this helps.
