Awful idea.

Even if you don't care about the danger aspect, which is highly significant, you won't have any fun learning on the bike at the lowest end of its power band. If you get a bike with a smaller engine, you will be able to push it much harder to its limits and have a much more fun time with it.

Have you priced insurance on that bike?

You can buy a smaller used bike, use it for a year, and sell it for about the same amount of money you spent on it. You also won't pay ridiculous insurance premiums and you won't cry the first time you drop your new baby.

I second that comment. Check out your insurance, I bet you'll still want an R6 but really really don't want to pay thousands of dollars a year for insurance on one. It's a good 2nd+ bike, something to look foward to as you learn on your starter bike. Plus when you get there in a couple of years your insurance will be a lot cheaper for it than now too.

If you want a racey looking bike, see the GS500F, Ninja 250R or Ninja500. All great bikes to learn on or keep for a good number of years. :D Try to buy one used older one as your first bike.

Hey, just rode my friend's Gixxer 600 for the first time today... No way would I ever recommend that for a first bike! I could feel the front end wanting to come up just going down the street, not even above 8 or 9K RPM! I second (third???) starting off with the lower cc bikes...

Yamaha YZF-R6 600cc 123HP

Kawasaki Ninja 500 500cc 50HP

Kawasaki Ninja 250 250cc 36HP*

*Remember at only 36HP this "little" bike still does 105 miles per hour. You do not need tons of horsepower for a "fast" motorcycle...

This from http://www.californiabikenights.com/learn/ . its not just CC's that counts its the HP

Kawasaki Ninja 250 (250cc) is a BIG bike in different parts of the world, in India for example, they are raving over the new 150cc sportbikes! Before that they were limited to 125cc. A Ninja250R is a dream machine over there. Indonesia is the same as well with low cc bikes, the only big ones you see are imports.

So, don't get caught in the trap of "I need a lot of cc's". I have ridden big inline-4's and honestly, the smaller cc bikes are a lot more fun to whip around on using 80-90% of their ability is a blast!

I don't need a fast bike if you understand me.I just want a bike with good acceleration and good Sound :).The noise of big CC supersports bikes makes me crazy.
Aprillia rs 125 is awesome bike but he don't have a noise that i need.No one turn around when I go down the street-I NEED NOISE

The Ninja 500 will out-accelerate a Testarossa, Countach, BMW M3, and Viper.

Is that fast enough for you?

The Ninja 250 will still out-accelerate 95% of vehicles on the road. It does 0-60 in under 6 seconds.

D&D pipe?? He needs NOISE! Just take the Ninja and cut the pipes about 12 inches down from the exhaust port. That'll make enough noise to get even the sleepiest police officer interested
