400-500cc cruiser/stand
im looking for a cruiser 400-500cc....i know about a few but what do u all know of....please help me...links are always nice..im going to be using the bike around town and what not but i will have to go on highways to and from school so like once maybe a month..i would like a decent bike that can hold me and a passenger also...but i not to comfortable with anything more then 600cc max..i prefer nothing less then 400c and ok up to 550cc...i also dont want to spend more then 800$ on it...so clearly older styles is what im looking for and want anyway..old but simple to fix...that should be a good start...thanks in advanced for all ur help...

Where do you live?
Why are you limiting yourself to cruisers under 600cc? Cruisers up to say 800-900cc are generally considered perfectly manageable for newbies.
$800 will certainly be severely limiting. I found one for that price but I also got a ridiculously good deal on it.

Hey man, look up the bike in my sig, my first bike and I'm pulling it off just fine... Glad it's not any bigger, but it is the very FIRST bike I've ridden except for a Rebel 250 I rode for about 20 minutes in a parking lot... and the MSF bikes of course.

Sportbikes with high HP inline 4s are a very different beast than cruisers with V-twin engines. A 600cc supersport is a *very* dangerous rocket of a bike for a beginner. A 750cc cruiser is in general a very beginner-friendly bike.nate1714 wrote:this would technically be my first bike i own...so i want to keep it low..i have driven my friends 400cc for a while now...but i think its time for him to get his bike back...and i live in IL near Chicago and go to college at western IL u. and i have found several for around my price range and lower..i down mind if its $300 and doesnt run or something as long as i can fix it...thanks ask more ? is u want to know more...
You probably want to look at V-twin cruiser of around 500-800cc displacement. Examples include the Yamaha Virago XV535 and V-Star 650.

well www.craigslist.org is always a good place to look for bikes in your area.
just be sure to set it to where you live.

Does it run? How much money/work will it take to make it run? Are you capable of doing this work? Is it even salvageable?
