Hi
I am new to this site and riding. My last bike was a Honda Trail 70!!! I now have a Honda Hurricane 600. This bike was owned by a very dear friend that was murdered in work by a co-worker who lost his mind. This is a true story. We were like brothers. Proir to his death, another friend of ours purchased the bike from him used it 1 year and it sat in his Mom's yard for 5-7 years with out starting it or looking at it. I now have the bike and I need a starting point and advice on how to restore it. It was covered so cosmetically it is OK. My concern is the motor. If anyone has any info that can help me I would really appreciate it. Thank you

It will need a battery. It might need tires, check carefully for dryrot. Brake fluid should be flushed and replaced. Brake lines might need replacing. Oil will definitely need to be changed. Carburetor will likely need rebuilding. Was there fuel in the tank? If so it will be lacquered up and will need to be cleaned out. Fuel line and petcock may need replacing. The list goes on, this is just off the top of my head. If you're mechanically inclined it shouldn't be to difficult. It will cost a few dollars for parts. Good luck. You have found a great resource in this site. There are lots of great people who can offer advice and share experience.
