Choke issue.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to motorcycling (I have about 100 miles under my belt tops) and I am having a bit of an issue with my trusty steed.

Basically, the ride will not perform to its potential unless the choke is fully activated. When I have the choke partially activated, the bike runs but will only rev to about 8,500 rpm. Then it sort of stalls and slows down a bit. When I have the choke fully activated, the bike will rev all the way to 12,000 if I push it and it accelerates very well. When the choke is not activated, the bike will not run at all.

So, what can I do to fix this? I have been riding with the choke on fully. Is this bad? The bike is a Chinese made 200cc sport bike that cost me $2,400. I have about 60 miles on it so far.

Thanks for the help.

It's a new engine. You probably shouldn't be flogging it like that if you want it to last. Your money, not mine.
It sounds to me like it is running very rich, the carbs may not be properly adjusted. I don't know what to do about it off the top of my head.

Take it back to the dealer and have them fix it. There is no reason to for a bike with 60 miles on it to be having those kinds of problems.

I'll take "air leak in the intake tract" for $500, Alex.

If you can find a dealer who is capable of working on it, it should be thier problem. But you may not find such a dealer, so it becomes your problem. The best fix is to buy something with a brand name and dealer network if you can swing it.

Chinese knock-off quality strikes again.
