Bike starts fine and idles okay until it warms up. When the rpm is increased with the throttle it revs up when the throttle is closed it does not come back to idle right away. Once it does come back to idle the idle is not steady and the bike will quite.
I have checked for air leaks around the carbs and intake manifold and have not found any.

It does sound like an air leak or a lean condition. Check your cables and make sure the throttle valve is returning to the idle adjustment screw. May have some "gunk" in the throttle linkage. If the bike sat for any amount of time, you will need to pull the carb and do a full clean on it. Good luck.
