Shifter gets stuck.

#1 Unread post by LUV_2_XLR8 »

Hi Folk,

Ok. I got the choke/carb issue fixed (thanks for your help). Now there is a bit of a problem with the shifter pedal.

After riding around for awhile -- after the engine get nice and hot -- the shifter tends to get stuck in first. What will usually happen is i'll be riding along and eventually come to a traffic light. I shift down into first and wait for the light to change then I take off but, when I try to shift up into second gear, the shifter simply wont budge. It only happens after the engine has been running for awhile and is hot. What could be the problem and how do I fix it?

Thanks.

Try the simple first and lube you shift linkage! I just did a FZ6 that the customer complained it would not shift into third gear. Checked the linkage and found the shift shaft needle bearing frozen with rust. He keeps his bike out in the weather. Replaced the shift shaft, bearing and seal and sent him down the road.
CHECK YOUR TIRE PRESSURE REGULARLY!!!
