Hello,
I have a 1982 HOnda CB 650 SC with 33K on it. I am having troubles with the clutch slipping under load. I adjusted according to the manual, and there is almost nothing to the clutch, the lever is just limp, even when I move the cable out as far as it goes. However when if I mess around with the adjustment of the clutch iteself I can get it so that the clutch lever has the feel that a clutch should, but then I get the slipping. I just pulled the clutch springs off today and they where inside there tolerances, I have not yet looked at the plates. So my question is do I need new springs and plates or is my cable just very stretched?
Thanks,
Nate

It's not gonna hurt to replace the cable and the plates with that many years and miles on it. Thats what I would recommend.1982 HOnda CB 650 SC with 33K on it.
If you don't wanna do anything that is not absolutely necessary then just check the wear limits on the cable and the plates, and check the plates for glazing.
