Got my first bike!!!

let me say, i'm doing this all out of order. i had planned on taking the brc, getting my license, getting my riding gear and then shopping for a bike. turns out i'm getting the bike first. and before i you get ready to jump on me wait for the reasoning.
a recent friend of mine (that i only met just a few months ago) has been helping me in all of my research for what sort of bike i like and what are good bikes of that style. he had offered to go looking with me when i saved up the money for a bike (only looking for a $1000.00 cruiser). this was going to be at least 6+ months from now.
this week i get an email from him. he's looking to get a new bike so he needs to get rid of his old one. it's an 83 silverwing. it needs new tires, a new battery, a turn signal cover and a good cleaning. and best of all - it's FREE. it's not the bike i would have picked but i ain't the picky when it comes to free.
he's been riding for years and is going to be teaching me until i can get signed up in a brc.
before any of you guys jump on me about making sure i take the course, just know i'm a 30 year old husband, and father of one very beautiful girl. i'm not a moron and i'm going to take it all slow and safe. just take some time to celebrate with me. cause i wasn't even sure i would have the money for a bike in the 6+ months. this was completely out of left field and i can't come close to trying to explain how happy i am.
all i have to do is find a day that i can get over to his house and pick it up. y'all will be reading a lot more from me in the future thanks to my friend doug.
