It's pop, not soda!

Hello from Michigan!
My name is Liz and I ride a Honda 919. I just bought it last June and since I was working two jobs and didn't want the bike to be stolen, I didn't ride it to them so at this point I am just hitting the 600 mile mark on it.
I am obviously a female with a name like Elizabeth, and I am currently attending Central Michigan University, but when not on campus I am at home in Saginaw.

Where I come from, pop and soda are two words that don't exist except on teevee.
It's coke.
Strawberry soda? Nope. It's "red drink" and it's a flavor of coke.
"I'm going to the grocery. What kinda cokes you want?"
"Get some Mountain Dew and red drink."
"I'll have a coke please."
"What kind?"
"Regular coke."
"Pepsi OK?"
"No, what else do you have?"

It's still pretty strong in the Midwest and lots of places I've been in pennsylvania.
I love going to the south for the same reason jonnythan mentioned.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of Coke and dislike Pepsi, so I always have to ask if they have Coke or Pepsi up front, because many times I'm given a Pepsi when they said I could have a Coke. Also, I lived most of my life in Michigan, and I still call it pop most of the time. Most of my family grew up around Cleveland, and I think they always said pop too. It is funny how little regional differences will screw you up when you visit somewhere new.

Linguistics are fun. Get enough differences and you have an isogloss. From one town to another they can elongate a vowel, get trippy with a dipthong or say pail instead of bucket..
