Found a great deal on line. They ask for "actual Thigh measurement". This is in the range of 20 to 30 (20 to 30 what I don't know). I don't have a clue what they're talking about. Would someone enlighten me, please?

Go ahead and laugh at me while you're at it.

Measure around the thickest part of your thigh and then add a little for comfort. The easiest way is to wrap a string, yarn, etc around the circumference of your leg then straighten it out on a tape measure, yard stick, etc to get the proper measurement. Make sure you measure with your jeans or whatever normal riding pants on. You do this because the chaps are fitted to your leg and, being made of leather, won't stretch like synthetic materials.

Well IH, to be fair, the first thing that popped into my mind when I read the the thread title included the phrase "buttless chaps..."


But as far as the measurement goes, Scoutmedic covered it well. You can actually break in leathers if they're really tight by getting them damp then wearing them around and doing some sits and squatting movements to flex your legs in the chaps.

Don't wear wet leather over your naked legs - unless you want to be hairless.

2) How do you know about wet leather removing leg hair?

1) good point - assless chaps is just a funny phrase. DH and I were in a Wilson's Leather store in San Diego one evening looking for casual jackets. As it turns out, they have some spicey leather numbers of the kinky type. One ofthe items we had to pull off the hanger to get a laugh from was some chaps...the matching "top" has tassels and whippy dangly things

2) I make leather holsters. My armhairs have been traumatized that I can imagine sticking wet leather on my legs, especially up in the tender regions

assed chaps are leather pants that someone cut part of the legs off of i think.

My advice would be to just get some normal looking leather pants. Chaps look cool and all but your backside will end up like this if you go down: (The jeans you're wearing under the chaps will last about 4-5 feet in a slide - then you're riding on skin and tissue.)

From the pic only chaps would have help that poor man by 70 to 80 %. If your number is coming but not the final number, some protection is 100% better than none.
