new guy

hello. i been riding street bikes for 6 years and also was a mechanic at a dealer
dont get me started. i ride a 02 nude bandit 1200. i like all things mechanical. i am a journeyman carpenter and have a class A CDL. i work on cars and bikes in my spare time.
just a little background. i am a nice guy but often come off not so nice. so please keep that in mind

Welcome, huh. You and Mashby will have a bit to talk about. He just acquired a new B12. This is a good place to hang out and talk bikes, wrenching, etc. Stop by the Garage forums when you have time, too. Maybe your experience can help someone out.

thanks. one thing i did learn was that these new bikes today just dont break!
ever. most repair work was on carbed models that sat to long.
oh the millions of carb overhauls
oh yeah dont forget all the harley chrome i got to put on

Tell me about it. My 84 FJ 600 sat just a little too long while My wife was having a baby. This morning I went to start it for the first time in over a week, and it wouldn't fire. Too cold, and sat too long. So I gave a resigned sigh, and drove the cage to work. When I came home for lunch, the temp was up over 60, so I gave it another try, and the bike fired up as if all I needed to do was look at the starter button.
I love my old FJ, but I also look forward to the day when I can go outside on a frigid day after the bike sat for three weeks, and fire it up immediately with computer-controlled fuel injection.

I imagine that Carbs & Harley accessories is a good part of why you have a job there....Yes. Sounds like you need a Vacation.

yeah that was most of the work. and i did take a vacation when i quit
it was fun for a while then got old + did pay nearly enough. did i mention the 50+ hrs a week with only sunday left to ride

Mechanics work is never easy, so I bet you are loving the break. When you have time you should pop in to the TMW Garage forum to help out with other people's problems (anyone remember OPP? Yeah, you know me!). You mechanics are always so good at figuring stuff out.
