I am deciding between a 2003 Suzuki Gsx-r 750 or a 2006 Buell firebolt XB12r. I like the Gsxr because I am more familiar with Suzuki. I have done comparisons and it would seem the '03 suzuki is a better bike, but im just not sure. Can anyone help?

What kind of riding are you looking to do? How much riding have you done in the past? What kind of shape are the two bikes you're looking at in - or are those just the models you're looking at in general?

Dirt to street is crazy enough. Going from a dirt bike to a 600+CC sportbike is something else entirely. For grins and jollies, read the stickies on 600+CC sportbikes in the new riders forum.
However, to not start on that road- with your experience you'll never notice a difference between the two bikes. They are both quality. Sit on both of them, and whichever one feels best and you feel happy buying- that's the best bike for you.

Get a Ninja ZX-6R
Actually, between the two, I would suggest the 750 Suzi. I do not like Suzis at all (being a Kawasaki man), but I will admit that the GSXR 750 is a fabulous bike. Probably Suzi's best bike. A 750 has a ton of power, and the Haybusa and ZX-14R crowd won't have anything on you, especially in the corners
I don't know much about Buell, but I will bet the Suzi is more bike for the money (though a Kawa would be even more).
As far as dirt to street goes, if you rode and 400cc to 500cc bikes, you'll be able to handle a big bike with some practice. Four strokes are a lot more predictable. I had a friend who rode a Speed Triple on the road like a madman, but was still scared on his KX-500 - and with good reason

Just remember, sliding is typically a no-no, and sport bikes have brakes

The GSXR is a better bike but the firebolt will handle closer to the diirtbike you are used to.....neither will be as forgiving.
