Let me take a minute to introduce myself. I rode bikes as a young punk in high school. It's been over 25 years since I've ridden. I have always wondered what my mid-life crisis was going to be like. Looks like it's going to involve a new cruiser. I recently got the urge to go looking for a new bike. I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you and sharing my riding experiences on whatever bike I decide to lay my money on.

Yes sir, a motorcycle is a sure fire way to avert a mid life crisis.
Make sure you post a pic of your bike when you get it. (Demanding aren't we?

I will certainly let you all know what bike I settle on. Even after only a couple of days on these fourums, I feel like I'm with old friends. Sure feels like my kind of people

I am in the unfortunate position that my wife doesn't share my enthusiasm for bikes. In fact for years, I had totally lost interest. Then one morning I woke up and it hit me like a ton of bricks: "I need a motorycycle!" That's when I started "working" on the wife. Gas prices are in my favor as far as presenting a good argument. I'm secretly hoping gas hits $4.00 a gallon this summer. That's when I make my move. Then I hope gas prices drop like a rock after I get the bike. As you can see, I've really thought this one through. As for now, I keep dreaming, looking at bikes and working on the wife.

Blues,
I haven't received a good response from my wife as to what she is specifically opposed to. Maybe it's becasue I'll be having fun without her.

It sounds like you better buy a big enough bike to include her in some rides.
Reality.....sit down and have a heart to heart talk about it.

I am really not all that concerned about the wife's opposition to my buying a bike. She has done this before and after she realizes that I am completely serious about it she gives in. I always just have to get her used to the idea.
If you haven't done so already, go into the "Polls and Surveys" forum and find the post " Advice for a New Rider" and vote on my top 4 contenders for possible bike purchase. I'm curious to know which bike is the most popular choice with this crowd. However, I know I will eventually settle on what is right for me and not what is most popular.
