Yamaha Eleven Special

#1 Unread post by jonbailey19808 »

Got the chance to buy an old Yamaha 1100 special back from the 80's. Only scary thing is it has 53000 miles on it! Owner said its perfect (of course).

This will be my second bike after riding around my GZ250 for over a year now.

You think its a good idea? I would like to end up on a FZ1 , Honda 919, or Bandit 1200 new next year but thought this might be a good inbetweener.

Is it 53,000 well cared for miles..... My friend has an older 1100 Virago with over 60,000 miles and the engine is still great. However, it did need the usual age related repairs like a rectifier, a stator, a battery, and it needs a gasket because there is a tiny oil leak.

So take all that into consideration.

It is in good shape. One owner that got it serviced every year kept indoors.

Has this big faring on the front of it with a radio and two speakers in it.

Felt bad for the seller as he said he cant ride anymore as his arthritus has got so bad

Those tend to be some bulletproof engines. I know a few Virago riders with over 90000 on them.
