Bugs, bugs, oh glorious bugs.

Who else loves riding in the evening just when they start to come out and then they clog up your goggles or the face shield of your helmet or just your eyes depending on if you use a helmet? And aren't they just the most fun to clean off too? Give the bugs a grand salute!

When it rains the bugs come back off :)
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

I gotta start carrying something to clean the visor on long rides. Last time, a giant beetle or something left a mess the size of a silver dollar (I'm not kidding...) right in the middle of my visor. Guy I was riding with pulled a little can of some cleaning fluid out of his hardcase (...aren't touring bikes cool??...) so I was spared going cross-eyed for 100 miles looking at/around/through bug remains!!

I can't imagine the folks that go helmet-less having one of those beetles whack 'em in the forehead. Had one hit me on my bare arm while I was going 55 on an ATV once. *ouch* Left a welt that lasted 3 days.

When the big one hits the face shield don't make the mistake of trying to wipe it off with your glove. Smeeeeeeeaaaaaar!

Buy a box of wetnaps (I got mine at shoppers drugmart for $2 and there were 200 in there) throw a handful under your seat in a small bag. Works wonders.

I wish that was the case. Florida has the joy known as "lovebugs". Terrible little creatures that fly around attached to each other. Every summer, they swarm up everywhere! The worst part? They are highly acidic. They take your paint off like acid rain. I have to wash every damn vehicle I have after I drive during the summer...

I have to make sure there is extra wax on bumpers and front fairings... On my fullface, I actually sprayed cooking grease so I could just wipe off the damned things during my ride. The damn things stick like glue after they hit... they dry almost instantly, and the residue is a PITA to get off.

I hate them. HATE. Must... killl.... lovebugs..... Each pair makes another 500. So I make it my goal to kill as many as I can find.

Okay, I won a pail full of cleaning/detailing supplies from a local radio station on Friday. In the pail was a Rainx product that you spray on your vehicle before you drive, it puts a protective coating on the vehicle so that bugs etc... just rinse off. Anybody heard of this stuff or ever used it? Does it work?
