My 82 xj650 Maxim exhaust is leaking

I need to replace all or part of the exhaust on beautifully aging 82 Yamaha Maxim. Looking at universal mufflers and full systems by MAC and Jardine. Anyone have experience with any of these options - good, bad or OK? I also don't want to wake the neighbors when I leave for work early. Any advice on noise level with these options?
