This is a good one. The other day I was changing the oil and was kind of in the middle of it when I received a phone call. Unbeknownst to me my six year old wanted to help. Now I need yours. He put gasoline in the oil tank. After I drain the tank, what, if anything do I do before I replace the oil.

HELP, PLEASE!!!!

Fire cleanses everything.

J/K..... Drain every bit of gas you can from the tank (I assume this is a dry-sump engine like a Harley) by disconnecting the lines coming out of the tank (drain the lines too if possible) and run some clean oil through the the tank. After cleaning that mess up, hook everything back up (remember what line went to what fitting) and fill as normal.

Any remaining fuel will be minimal and should evaporate off soon. If you notice a heavy gasoline odor in your oil after a few days, change the oil again.... and lock the kid up.

Hmm, maybe just flush a few quarts of oil through the tank and drain . repeat a few times until you are confident that the gas has been flushed out.

Do you have a wet sump or an actual oil tank with oil lines going to the engine?
