How is this Ninja 250 and GS500F?

#1 Unread post by RVM »

How is this Ninja 250 looking to you experienced folks here? :)

What kind of questions should I ask the seller? Is there anything about the bike I should be concerned about?

Since it is a modded Ninja 250, would it still make a good first bike?

Thanks!

The mods done are cosmetic and structural, meaning that Ninja 250 still runs like a Ninja 250.

If the work was done with quality, then no problems. But if not, you could have crappy craftsmanship. Also, if you do drop or break parts on that bike, some mechanical knowledge and mod/tinker skill may be required to fix.

Might give you headaches if/when you must repair something to a bike that is no longer stock.

Personally, I wouldn't touch that bike.

Agreed. Unless your a mechanic, or are very good friend with one, forget it. Too many possible unknowns that could bite your wallet big time.

Awesome. Thanks for the advice!

I've actually been expanding my search a bit and was looking for Suzuki 500Fs and found one here. It looks really nice and seems to have a fair price. It's from a dealer that I have heard is reputable.

I have yet to find anything locally that isn't going to kill me within the first 10 minutes of riding it. :/

THat 500F looks pretty sweet 8)

TK, the "F" designator at the end of '500' means its the faired version. There was an "E" version produced that was a naked model. I think only new F versions are porduced/sold new these days.

I wouldn't touch that bike with a 10 foot pole (250 modded Ninja)

$5k invested in parts? And the seller wants $3700 for it? You can buy a brand new one for less than that. I'm also suspicious of not publicly listing the VIN number.

That 500F is very nice. I think it's worth what they're asking from a visual perspective.

Yeah I never understood this. A new 250 is $3k. So altogether he spent $8k? Why not just buy a better bike in the first place?

Well, I don't know anything about bikes, their mods etc. so that's why I asked. I am glad I did.

I'm seriously considering that 500F. It looks real nice, clean CarFax, good miles, aesthetically the bike appears in great shape... if bike isn't mechanically good I can get my security deposit back. I think I'm going to throw in a few bids if it is legal in CA.

What do you guys think about the buy it now price on that yellow 500F? What kind of questions should I ask the dealer about it?

Thanks guys!
