I was riding the bike from the garage to the front door at walking speed so I could park the bike at the front and put my gear on while the engine was warming up.
I was just about to turn right to park and I suddenly had the bike on the ground. Honestly I have no clue what happened. I was so slow im thinking that could be the issue. I also had pulled the clutch in because I was at snails pace.
Can anyone figure this out? Is it because I was too slow and had no momentum when turning? It was soooo embaressing to try and pick the bike up while I had the neighbours all checking it out. Only minor scratches on the bike but a huge dent in my ego.
Any ideas and suggestions so this doesnt happen again?

You had the front wheel turned and you were creeping along.
If you had your hand on the (front) brake lever and used that to control your progress, THAT is what put your bike on the ground.
Grab/squeeze the front brake with the front wheel turned, especially at really slow speed, and the bike will go down.
My guess is that's what happened.

what she said. i dropped my vstrom in front of my girlfriends parents house while her mom was watching me slowly creep forward. soooo embarassing. I barely touched the damn front brake lever while turning and BOOM. it went down instantaneously. i understand how it happened and i always try to never use the front brake while slowly walking it now.

I feel your pain Peter.
It happens to everyone and when it does, it happens fast.
I'm also guessing you probably grabbed the front brake.
When doing slow speed stuff I always stay in the friction zone and keep my foot dragging the rear brake for better control and squeeze the throttle ever so slightly to remind myself not to reach for the front brake if I feel like I'm gonna drop it.
Instead, give it a little more clutch and rear brake.

What they all said plus you may have been turning too sharply. I put down my new FZ1 two weeks ago while practicing my u-turns and figure 8's. I tried to use the front brake to control my speed. Bike started to go and I just couldn't hold it. It all happened so quickly at 5mph or less. I have also almost put it down when going or walking slowly and turning too sharply without using the brake. I caught it those times.

You could try checking your ego.

That's because I barely keep my wheels down.

That's odd, I usually creep into my spot with my Vulcan and I would sometimes hammer the front brake, even while in a turn, just to have that bobbing motion and I never lost the front end.
