First off hi everyone long time lurker first time poster.
I have a 84 cb650sc nighthawk, runs well but there a few small leaks from the cylinder head / cover. I have the new gasket stripped everything off the bike that was in the way but I've been having a hell of a time trying to get the cover off.
The years have really stuck it on. Anyone have any tips for getting it off? Been kinda afraid to hit it with a mallet, or use a solvent on it .

Show it a little love with a rubber mallet sadly. Remember that gasket has probably been cooked on there for decades. Hot cold Hot cold.

Don't wind up till it hurts, but tap around a couple times, then tap a little harder if that doesn't work.

Oh, and check for hidden bolts first, then check again, and once more. Then one more time :P.

Very wise advise. There is always one more when workin on a machine you haven't worked on yet.
