One piece suit, or a two piece?

I'm in the market for new rain gear and I can't decide which way to go. I want good stuff that is going to last me a while, not the cheapo PVC crap that you wear two times and the crotch blows out...

I just cant decide if I should get separate pants, and jacket, or get a once piece.

What do you use, and why? How do you like it?

BMW also has some great rain gear as well and for a reasonable price.

One piece suits are usually better at keeping moisture out but can be cumbersome to put on or take off.

I'm happy with my jacket that keeps me dry with or without the waterproof liner. The same goes for my Joe Rocket pants.

I've got a two piece "Frog Togs" under my seat. They have been great since they breath pretty well. They do ripple badly in the wind, since they are pretty baggy, but they fit well over my gear, and easy to put on over my boots.

i was looking into frogg toggs. which version do you have?

the price seems right but that flapping int he noise sound would get old after a few hours in the rain. Do you have the one they advertise specifically for motorcycles? Thats the Pro Sport I think...

I think those are the ones I bought. Got them at a bike shop. They are rather flappy, but you need them to fit over gear, so somewhat unavoidable. I was thinking a few big rubber bands might fix that in the right places. They do work well for keeping you dry and the allow air to get in, much better than cheapo vinyl things.

I bought a 2 piece rubberized rainsuit about 20 yrs ago on a roadtrip and have been using it ever since. Forget the vinyl stuff. It will tear itself apart at highway speeds (which is why I needed a new rainsuit in the middle of a roadtrip).

You want to get something that will seal around the ankles, so it won't flap in a 70 mph breeze. Also, it should have venting built in, or you will be wetter inside the suit that it is outside the suit.

My regular riding gear is also my rain gear. All weather textile armored jacket and water/windproof overpants. I carry two pairs of water/windproof gloves in my tank panniers (one insulated pair, one not).

One riding suit covers me for all weather conditions (although it can get a little warm in stop and go traffic, even with all the vents open in hot weather)

I went to the hunting clothes section at Dick's and found a rain jacket and rain pants for about 20 bucks a piece. The stuff is called "Hydroproof" and I have worn it in heavy rains with good results. Fairly cheap too.

Don't accidentally look at golf rainsuits. Anything in the golf section is automatically way more expensive!
