1985 Honda ATC 250 SX Trike Starts then stops.

#1 Unread post by scottlehman »

My trike starts for three seconds (at best) then stops. :frusty:

All electronics and wireing is ok, battery is good, new spark plugs, Fuel is flowing out of gas tank fine.

If the problem is the carberator, what is the best way to clean it?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you!

It sounds like your carb alright.

The best way to clean it is manually. And carefully.

This means taking it of the trike, taking it apart while keeping track of where and how everything went together originally (digital camera works nice, but you need to count turns on adjustment screws, etc.), cleaning out all the jets and passages without scratching them, and then putting it all back together.
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

Stupid question, if you keep on the gas does it keep running?
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
