Hi, I just purchased a Honda Shadow 750 Aero yesterday, I don't pick it up until Thursday. Anyways I haven't riden a bike in 15 years and was wondering what you people would recommend for a Helmet?...Full Face, Half face or whatever else there is...Thanks for your help

Most members seem to use a fullface. You'd be amazed what road can do to skin if you fall off.

I used to be a die-hard HJC fan. But I recently picked up a Scorpion and love it.

Check out this thread: http://totalmotorcycle.com/BBS/viewtopic.php?t=42

And I'd say for a full face. If you get in an accident, you'll be happy you did.

Also bumblebees, beetles, and small flying pebbles can be incredibly painful at 60mph! Go for a full-face unless you enjoy that kind of thing.

HJC seems to be the "budget but quality" brand. 100% effective as protection, lacks some of the features and refinement of the premium brands, but also only half the price. Many folks find HJC's "good enough."

Love my Scorpion full face. If you start off with a full face and wear it all the time, you'll always be used to it. I tried an open face once, but didn't care for just how open it felt. A lot of people ask me how I can stand to wear a full face in 90+ degree weather (helmets are optional in Ohio), but honestly, I feel very vulnerable without it. I just sweat a little a traffic lights - once I'm traveling, it's fine.

Cheers,
Loonette

My Scorpion cost me the same amount as my old HJC did. HJC's have gone down in price (slightly) since then, but they were close to the same. I honestly think the extra little bit of money I spent above the cost of a similar HJC was worth it.

I recommend the KBC Full Face. http://www.kbc-helmet.com/ I was sixteen w/ my first bike when a ride down the highway stuck behind a dump truck full of loose gravel taught me the value of a full face helmet.

nolan full face flip helmet. the protection of a full face, but when its 1,000 degrees sitting at that stop light that takes 20 minutes to turn green, you flip that sucker open and get some air.

Makes talking easier too. I'm a big fan. The only negative is that you have a bit more wind noise then a non flip face just due to the design. However, if you ride with ear protection its not really an issue.

Also if you wear glasses a flip face helmet is great.

I have an HJC flipface helmet (can't remember model right now). It's great.

Are flip-face helmets as safe as regular full-face helmets?
