Speedometer

Hey again...

More mechanical questions. I just can't seem to get my bike in a clean working order.

While driving really slow going around a corner I misjudged how fast I needed to go and went too slow and had to jerk my front wheel to the right... I managed to stay up and save it. However I think in doing so I pulled my speedometer cord out of wherever it connects, because now it's just hanging attached to the front wheel. I can't figure out where to connect it back into place. It's not a digital reading, I have a 2000 Kawasaki Ninja EX250.

Any help whatsoever would be appreciated.

I also mine as well ask now.

I should probably get this bike looked at, I don't trust myself enough yet to make sure EVERYTHING is in working order, too many things have gone wrong after only having the bike for a week. (I think the person that sold it to me didn't do a very good job of keeping it in shape) So, out of curiosity... Does anyone know of a good mechanic around Oceanside California?

It reads off the front wheel - look down at the axle for a hole to push the speedo cable into. It should screw into place.

Well, now it's connected... But it's still not reading anything. I only tried driving a few feet though, do I need to go faster to kind of "Kick" start it or something?

Or did I just connect it funky? It's screwed in all the way on both connections

*EDIT* Never mind, I wasn't going fast enough for it to read anything :frusty: It's now working. Thanks, Sev.

I did the same thing. I know that I can maintain it, but I don't know enough to make sure I get a good "good working order" baseline.
