Should I be concerned about my height?

I'm an 18 year old looking to get into riding soon. I've found myself looking mostly at street bikes such as the Kaw Ninja 250R. I am 6' 2" tall, 150 lbs so should i be concerned about my height/weight on this bike? If so, are there any mods I can make or possibly any other bikes to look into? My main reasons for the ninja 250 is gas milage, price, and it seems to get great reviews as a starter bike.

ninja 250r = excellent first bike.

I'm 6'1", about 180lbs and I fit on a 250 just fine.

Go to a dealer and sit on one, they have a quite comfy seating position.

Yes!!!

You should definitely drop a few inches before you start riding...

As for a serious answer, I'll let the forum regulars help you there...

Well, your weight should be fine, I'm your height and twice your weight, and even I fit on a Ninjette... Not sure I'd want to ride one because of my weight and it's suspension or whatnot, but yeah, you'd be fine!

PS, go to your local bike shop and check them out yourself!

I'm 5'3" and I've been concerned about my height my whole life. Yet, I'm still 5'3" :humm:

Actually, sit on the bikes you're interested in to see if they fit - like trying on blue jeans or shoes. People of the same height do not have the same torso and leg measurements, so you won't know for sure unless you test fit.

Hmmm... Shorts, you are slightly taller than me

Actually, Shorts is correct, go sit on bikes. (From the title of your thread, I'd expected you to tell us you were on the vertically challenged side of height. :D )

Shaq's the only guy I've ever heard of having to have a custom bike made just so he could ride... I think you've got a few years to grow before you reach his size.

Thanks for the help guys. I did go to a local bike shop and talk to the people there and sit on a few bikes. I already picked out a '04 ninja 250 at a local shop! Now I just need to get the money together. :) The last time I was this excited about spending a ton of money was when i bought my first guitar...

Vertically challenged....now that's a term that really shouldn't exist. Not for someone within even a barely reasonable range such as 5'3" or 6'2". "Challenged" to me means 'not up to standards' or 'unable to do/be x', which, taking into account human diversity, means that the term 'challenged' doesn't really work. You're just normal. Live with it. :P

Ok, so I also describe my body type as 'efficient'.

You should be fine on the ninja 250. You are one inch taller than me and weigh 5 more pounds than me, but I fit on a bike smaller than yours. It's not really a big problem unless you go on 4+ hour rides, then you can really feel some pain in your lower back.
