On my 750 vulcan self cam chain adjuster, I replaced the adjuster and it only worked right for a few weeks. What it is doing is that it is allowing the the screw to work back. Is there some kind of fix to that since a new one only works right for a few weeks. The bike runs good, it just makes noise mainly when cold. Any help is aprieciated. niterider

Did you take it off and try resetting it? The screw should only be backed out 1/4 turn to engage the tensioner.Do not touch or try anything while the bike is running or you will trash the engine.With the bike off make sure you have the proper tension on the spring.I just rebuilt mine and went to a half a turn more tension than stock and it's doing fine.Turn the nurled screw and see if it springs back like it should.

I bought two new tensioners and the front one is the one that gives trouble. I installed them and they worked fine for about 1,000 miles or so. Then the front one went to making noise again. I rewound one of the old ones and it seems to be working okay for now. I am thinking that there may be a problem inside to cause it to go bad so soon. But it runs good so I will continue to run it. I have put over 12,000 miles on it and still runs good. I bought it used at a good price, so I will run it till it quits. I am looking for another 12,000 this year. Thanx for the reply.

Since you last gave me this info, some one turned me on to a forum that speciallizes on the vn750. I converted the auto cam chain adj to manuels, no more problem. Look what other ideas I got.
