This is probably a pretty complicated question, but I am going to be looking at a 2nd bike in the near future it seems and I was just curious on what everyone thought a great all around sport bike is? I have heard the Gixxers are... no offense to anyone who rides them but I don't think I would ever get one. The only Gixxer that looked appealing to me was the 750 K6?? I think thats what it was. Anyways anyone have some good suggestions for 2nd sport bike, I dont plan on buying anymore after that so I was thinking fairly new and something I could grow into as well. Thanks!

It really depends on what you mean by all round?
If you mean it in track terms, then you really are looking at the super sports.
If you mean in road terms, prehaps you want to be looking at the sport tourers like the VFR, Sprint ST, and the ..errr... beemer one (I can't remember the name right now)

The answer, of course, is the 2006 Suzuki GSX-R750. Anyone who disagrees with this is wrong. Don't even try arguing with me; you will lose.

TZR 250 race's always looked a load of fun. Maybe I'll be able to afford to try someday... I've always felt that the fun is when you can get close to the bikes limits, and the ownus is on your skills to bring out the best from a bike. I doubt I could get even close to that on the 750 gsxr

Never having ridden one, I can whole-heartedly agree with the GSX-R 750 as best all around sportbike.

SV650 if you truelly want all around. I've seen guys offroad it and you'll never do that on the gsxr750.

So whats your budget and what are your priorities? Do you prefer twins, triples, or fours?
Triumph Daytona 675 is the best middleweight sportbike according to the magazines, though the new CBR 600 will probably beat it out for 07.
The GSXR750 is the best of the bigger sportbikes according to the magazines
The Ducati 1098 is the fastest of the new sportbikes on the track according to the magazines
The BMW R1200S is probably the most comfy sportbike and probably pretty street-friendly
The Suzuki SV650 and SV1000 are probably the most street-friendly sporty bikes
The Triumph Thruxton or Guzzi Griso probably get the most style points
The Ducati Hypermotard may be the Next Big Thing in sportbikes and looks to be not terribly uncomfortable to operate
The MV Agusta F4 1000 R 312 is the fastest sportbike in terms of top speed
The Kawasaki ZX-14 probably has the best acceleration and humane ergos
The Yamaha R1 has the most high tech stuff going on
The Aprilia RSV is f'ing fast and pretty rare
If this is your second and last bike, you might consider a sport-tourer in case you want to do some serious miles in the future, but thats a whole other story
