Hello everyone,

Taking the Virginia BRC in a few weeks and thought I'd get a head start on motorcycle knowledge. Found this forum to be very informative and interesting.

I've never been on a motorcycle, so any tips would be great. I understand the BRC is pretty easy but I still get nervous around tests, so any knowledge regarding the course would be great!

I have the money saved up for a bike for if/when I get my motorcycle endorsement, so I'm sure I'll be looking for a group to ride with or whatever. Haven't had much luck finding groups in the area.

Just relax and enjoy the BRC. I think you'll find it all quite self explanatory.

Stick with this forum, you're on to good thing believe me. Have learned loads of stuff from these guys and gals.

The BRC will be fun as well as informative. Don't be afraid to ask questions. That's what the instructors are there for.

Where are you taking the BRC? At the Nova Alexandria Campus? The GMU fairfax campus?

Both are great ranges and strive to have the best coaches possible.

Don't worry about the tests. You'll know everything for both before you take them. Just sit back, and have fun.

I'm actually looking at taking the Apex courses at GMU. Right now my options are to wait for 8 months or wait a month and go down to Richmond. If I go to Apex, I can get in to a class next week and their waivers wave both the DMV riding and written tests. It is $350 though.

In Canada we have no sponsored courses. If you want to learn to ride it will cost between $800. and $1,000.

It's 30 hours....10 classroom, 10 parking lot, 10 road. Bike provided.

I believe that all the ranges in Virginia should now be offering those cards. I know for sure that Nova and the richmond ranges due.

When are you signed up for a class with Apex?

My understanding was the NOVA and Richmond ranges offer the waiver for only the road skills test. I could very well be wrong though.

I haven't signed up for the Apex class yet; I want to take it next weekend but I may have to go out of town. I'm holding out to see if that's the case. If not, and there's a seat available, I'll snag it. Otherwise I'll probably have to wait a week or two.

I was led to believe that the new waivers would be put into effect all at the same time. It's not an APEX specific card, it's a new card from the Va DMV.

If you're taking a class at APEX next weekend it's very possible that I'll be one of your instructors. IF that's the case you'll have to make sure to not tell these jokers how bad I am . Anyway- Apex can get you into a class in two weeks time guaranteed and they use a brand new training cycle fleet so it's entirely worth it.
