2001 suzuki carbs on a '93???

#1 Unread post by BananaKatana »

Im looking for a new set of carbs for my '93 katana and the only ones I could find are at a salvage yard that says they are off a 2001 katana (also a 750), and "should" be the same only they have an electrical idle sensor on them. The guy told me that they should work, but I dont wanna drive 2 hours and spend 15o$ to find out. Anybody know if these newer gen. mukinis w/ the electrical TPS or whatever is is will fit my bike?
Thanks, Sam

These are 2 different things.

If they have an electronic idle control, they should work, or be made to work with minimal modification, you may need a temperature sensor to make it work right, or tear off the electrical control and retro-fit a manual choke to it..... keep in mind that without seeing them and the bike, this is just a 'best guess' sorta thing.

If it has a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor), you need a period-correct computer to run everything properly... and 'everything' else that the original bike used to fuel and spark itself..... again, 'best guess'.....
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

I believe it just has the electronic idle control. I don't see how I'd fit a maual choke on there though...mine's built into the carbs with plungers and what not. Thanks for the help.
